The atmosphere is intentionally calm and grounding: soft lighting, thoughtfully curated shelves, and cozy seating areas create a sense of refuge from the noise of everyday life.

We are excited to introduce Doc’s Place Bookstore, a bookstore with a mission that goes far beyond books!
Doc’s Place is fueled by Salt and Light Learning Institute Inc., a registered 501(c)(3) public charity committed to raising funds to provide financially disadvantaged families with quality literacy resources at little to no cost.
That means your support of Doc’s Place helps support literacy access in our community. Funds raised through Doc’s Place help advance Salt and Light’s mission of making books, literacy resources, and educational opportunities more accessible to families who may otherwise struggle to afford them.

About the Owner

Dr. Rachel Slaughter AKA Doc
Dr. Slaughter is a published author and veteran educator with over 35 years in both the urban and suburban school systems. Dedicated to increasing literacy skills in young adults, she has served the profession as an English teacher, learning specialist, and most recently a Media Library Specialist.
